“An unworthy servant, how does he serve the Lord❓”
Willingly serve Him for free.

When I was enjoying Western fried rice and iced lemon tea, the school administration officer came over.
She said, “Wai Hung.”
I said, “Good evening.”
She said, “I want you to me a favour.”
I said, “What’s that?”
She said, “The song lyrics for the choir’s musical are in English.”
I said, “Yes.”
She said, “The vice principal would like you to help translating them all in Chinese.”
I said, “Oh, why?”
She said, “We want those that are not good at English to have a better understanding of the English lyrics.”
I said, “Oh, OK.”
She said, “Thank you. I’ll have the English lyrics typed and sent to your email.”
I said, “Great.”
She said, “I’ll send you one as a tryout. Send me your translation and I’ll show it ti the vice principal. If she finds it no big problem, please move on to the remaining.”
I said, “OK.”
……
Another me said, “Hey, why did your OK come so easily?”
I said, “What’s wrong?”
Another me said, “You haven’t asked about the pay, have you?”
I said, “She never said she paid me. She’s asking for my help.”
Another me said, “So it’s an unpaid work?”
I said, “The Lord’s already arranged me enough work, which can cover my living, my rent, my cat, my dog, and my school fee. What’s the matter with engaging in some unpaid work? What’s more, the lyrics are about my Lord Jesus. No doubt it is a great chance to offer Him a piece of service.”
Another me said, “But why you?”
I said, “I don’t know. If you want to know, go ahead and ask the admin officer, or ask the Lord in prayers!”
Another me said, “Why must it be you?”
I said, “Who says it’s a must? A while ago, she asked me in a very polite tone if I could offer any help.”
Another me said, “Offer. No gain then.”
I said, “It’s now the Lord, the Creator and the Savior, that has sent through an admin staff to me an invitation to serve Him by translating lyrics at a music school that I am being nurtured to be a music talent. What a chance! Just gain!”
Another me said, “Crazy, I’d better ask the Lord what return I will be given before I start writing.”
I said, “Hey, do you know who you are?”
Another me said, “I’m the holder of a Bachelor and Master degree in Translation of Lingnan University and Chinese University of Hong Kong.”
I said, “You’re just a servant.”
Another me said, “What?”
I said, “We are not only servants. To be accurate, according to Luke 17:10, we are unworthy servants.”
Another me said, “It is you that is unworthy. I can translate. Why would I be unworthy?”
I said, “Unworthy is not a description of your translation ability but your serving attitude. It is a servant’s duty to serve the Lord. Don’t consider yourself too important, so important that the Lord cannot go on without you. If the Lord wants a translator, there are countless on the street that He can call upon.”
Another me said, “Ah…The Bible writes servants should humbly serve the Lord. I know it.”
I said, “If you had known it, why would you have asked the Lord for returns before you started writing?”
Another me said, “I know. I’m so careless to have mistaken it. Let me serve Him before I claim the return from Him.”
I said, “Wrong.”
Another me said, “Wrong? So you want me to work for nothing.”
I said, “I don’t necessarily mean that.”
Another me said, “So what do you mean?”
I said, “After we have served the Lord, whether or not He will reply, or if He does, when to reply, how to reply and so on, He will decide.”
Another me said, “Alas, then I don’t have my say, do it?”
I said, “I’ve told you it is the servant’s duty to serve the Lord. Duty is what we should do. No extra pay. What else do you want to say?”
Another me said, “……”
I said, “If you’ve been serving the Lord and you well know Him, you should know how the Lord treats me very well.”
Another me said, “Well, I don’t know. What I now know is that if I am not given any return for the translation that I’ve done, I’ll end up in a loss.”
I said, “You don’t know Him. You don’t trust Him. Alas, you’d better not be His servant.”
Another me said, “What can I do then?”
I said, “Be a loan shark.”

以前我都會問點解會叫我啲?也會擔心自己的能力可否做到完成到呢? 但現在我會認為神比我去做,神自然有祂的安排,為我預備好我跟着做就可以了。

Yes, according to the…
Yes, according to the scriptures, we can only receive one thing - a personal gain / material reward, or our Heavenly Father’s Reward. What’s the difference? Whether we seek our glory or His. (Matt.6:2-4). Naturally, servants seek their master’s glory, and we’re all servants of some master. Jesus was clear about who His Master was …His Heavenly Father, and allows us to choose whom or what we’ll serve.
