“How can we accept ourselves❓”

Keep exposing your real self to the Lord, to yourself, and to others.

Today was the annual hiking gathering between our senior secondary classmates and Chinese and philosophy teacher.

Classmates and teacher started a discussion about our own voice.

I said, “Frankly, I’m quite scared about hearing my own voice.”

Teacher said, “How do you know?”

I said, “I don’t want to hear back the recording of my singing practices for the aural and sight-singing class.”

Old classmate said, “I don’t want either. I find my voice sounds bad.”

Teacher said, “How much don’t you want to listen back to your voice?”

I said, “I don’t even want to listen any more after recordings.”

Teacher said, “So you’ve never listened back to any of your recordings, have you?”

I said, “Yes, I have. I get to find out whether I’ve got out of tune.”

Teacher said, “After your own listening, have you forwarded your recordings to others?”

I said, “Yes, to my teacher. They are assignments.”

Teacher said, “Only to your teacher?”

I said, “Not limited to that. I’ve sent them to my friends and classmates too. I want to listen to their comments.”

Teacher said, “Have you listened to the recordings after their comments?”

I said, “Yes, I have. I want to find out whether their comments are valid. If they are, I get to pay attention the next time I sing.”

Teacher said, “How do you find your voice after listening to it for some time?”

I said, “It doesn’t sound as bad as I perceived.”

Teacher said, “If you go on listening to it, there may be some subtle but amazing changes coming.”

I said, “Is that subtle amazing change that I will find my voice sounds pleasant to me?”

Teacher said, “Yes, you’ve such a finding.”

I said, “Yes, recently.”

Teacher said, “Keep listening then.”

…….

Another me said, “I hate my true self so much. What can I help?”

I said, “Show others how your true self looks.”

Another me said, “I hate my true self. I’ve just told you that. If I show how I truly look like, no normal being can accept it.”

I said, “Show Christians your true self then.”

Another me said, “If it happens to be a Pharisee Christian that sees my true self, I’ll in great trouble! I’ll be stoned to death.

I said, “Show the Lord your true self then.”

Another me said, “How can such a holy being as the Lord accept my true self?”

I said, “The Lord can.”

Another me said, “My true self is so ugly.”

I said, “However ugly, the Lord can take it.”

Another me said, “You’re the Lord?”

I said, “No, but the Lord paid the price for our ugly sin. Don’t you mean we are unacceptable to the one that has sacrificed Himself for us.”

Another me said, “So if I want myself to be accepted…”

I said, “Show the Lord how your true self looks like first. Then…”

Another me said, “Then?”

I said, “And then show the Lord how your true self looks like. And then…”

Another me said, “And then?”

I said, “And then show others how your true self looks like.“

Another me said, “Is there any more then?”

I said, “And and then, keep showing the Lord, yourself and others how your true self looks like.“

Another me said, “And and and then, I start accepting myself.”

I said, “Exactly.”

Another me said, “Why?”

I said, “Because one day you’ll be able to clearly see your true self doesn’t look as ugly as you have perceived to be. If you keep your watch, you’ll even…”

Another me said, “I’ll even?”

I said, “You’ll even experience amazing changes with yourself.”

Another me said, “Is the amazing change that I’ll love myself?”

I said, “Yes.”

Another me said, “Why?”

I said, “By the time when you have accepted your true self, you’ll find a desire to follow the Lord into a transformation process where you will be turned into a being that you love so much.”
