Vet said, “The cat’s name is?”

Mum said, “Tung Tung.”

Vet said, “Where is he feeling unwell?”

Mum said, “We’ve made no change to the cat food and fed him no snack but he threw up.”

Vet said, “Let me check.”

The vet had a comprehensive check on Tung Tung.

Vet said, “There’s wrong around his stomach.”

The vet threw a glance at Pei Pei.

Vet said, “Had Tung Tung eaten Pei Pei’s food before he threw up?”

Mum said, “Oh my goodness. He did.”

Vet said, “Then, it may be the cause. Has he been throwing up these few days?”

Mum said, “No longer.”

Vet said, “He stopped throwing up. That gave more support to my judgment. Next time when you’re feeding Pei Pei, stay Tung Tung away.”

I said, “Get it. Thanks, doctor. Let’s go.”

Vet said, “Hold on.”

I said, “What’s up?”

Vet said, “Tung Tung’s no problem in his stomach but some strange sound in his heart.”

Mum said, “What do your mean?”

Vet said, “I mean Tung Tung may have got some kind of heart disease. It is commonly found in breeds like him.”

Mum said, “Need pills?”

Vet said, “Not sure. It takes some detailed examination.”

Mum said, “What examination?”

Vet said, “There are two types. First, the blood test. You’ll know if Tung Tung’s really got some problem. If there is, he should go for the ultrasound test. Second, the ultrasound test. If he takes the ultrasound test right away, you’ll get a full picture of what is happening in his heart.”

I said, “So the blood test can’t tell exact what is happening in his heart. What do we take it?”

Vet said, “If the blood test is passed, some owners will decide to skip the ultrasound test to save money.”

I said, “Does a pass in blood test mean no problem in his heart?”

Vet said, “Not necessarily. The blood test can only tell how serious the problem is. If one fails the blood test, his problem may, to a certain extent or even a larger extent, turn quite serious.”

I said, “What’s the benefit of taking the ultrasound test right away?”

Vet said, “The earlier the heart problem is found and treated, the longer the animal’s life.”

Mum said, “He’s Tung Tung’s dad. He pays. Then go with what he says and take the ultrasound test. It’s actually a good idea. We’ll be clear about what is happening in his heart.”

Vet said, “Great. Make an appointment outside.”

I said, “Spend $1,800 more to take the ultrasound test and I can show more love and care to the life that the Lord’s granted Tung Tung.”

Another me said, “Write fewer reflections and you can save some more time for yourself.”

I said, “Write more reflections and I can show more love and care to the lives that the Lord’s granted my neighbours, especially those that haven’t committed themselves to Christ.”

Another me said, “If Jesus had been a little less outspoken, and left the crowd a bit earlier, He might have saved Himself His life.

I said, “Getting outspoken and voluntarily laying down His life onto the cross, He demonstrated His greatest love for the lives that He’s granted us by leaving us His gift of eternal salvation.”
