My HKBU senior texted me.

Senior said, “Mr. Yip.”

I said, “Good morning.”

Senior said, “We’d like to see if you can help teaching some classes.”

I said, “What? But the term has started.”

Senior said, “Yes, because a colleague is leaving.”

I said, “But I’m on studies, my timetable…….”

Senior said, “Send me your timetable, and the School will make arrangements.”

I said, “Thank you.”

A former collleague from HKBU texted me.

Former colleague said, “Hi, Mr. Yip.”

I said, “Hi.”

Former colleague said, “City’s looking for some teachers to deliver her courses.”

I said, “City U?”

Former colleague said, “Yes, I’ve changed my job. I’m serving City U.”

I said, “Got it.”

Former colleague said, “Can you help?”

I said, “What time? I’m on studies right now.”

Former colleague said, “One from 2:30-5:30p.m. on Thu while the others from 9:00am-12:00pm on Sat.”

I said, “I can do 2:30-5:30p.m. on Thu, but…”

Former colleague said, “But what?”

I said, “But I can confirm my availability only at the first semester, until 

Former colleague said, “Then sign up only for the first semester.”

I said, “Is that alright?”

Former colleague said, “Yes.”

I said, “Thank you.”

Former colleague said, “I’ll ask the administration staff to follow up. They will contact you later.”

I said, “OK.”

Another me said, “Are you that desperate for money?”

I said, “Yes, so many expenses now. My savings will be used up one day.”

Another me said, “If you don’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

I said, “I’m looking for His help in standing the heat.”

Another me said, “It’s already October. The school has started, has’t it?”

I said, “Yes.”

Another me said, “All class schedules have been confirmed, haven’t they?”

I said, “Yes.”

Another me said, “All teaching vacancies have been filled, haven’t they?”

I said, “Yes.”

Another me said, “Why are you now still offered jobs?”

I said, “Some manpower changes, I guess?”

Another me said, “It’s changing until it fits your study schedule?”

I said, “Impossible. There must be some pre-arrangement.”

Another me said, “Who did it, HKBU or City U?”

I said, “If you were HKBU or City U, would you answer my call?”

Another me said, “Mad, why should I?”

I said, “You see.”

Another me said, “But now the two universities did not wait for your calls but areas HKBU called you for a match of schedule and even more City U called you with a teaching schedule that works with your current study timetable! Who are these two universities answering?”

I said, “The Lord. If it isn’t Him, is it such a small potato as me?”
