By rejecting equivocation and ambiguity.

Mum said, “Your sister’s coming back for dinner tomorrow evening.”

I said, “I know that.”

Mum said, “Are you back?”

I said, “Sure, what time?”

Mum said, “As usual, 8pm.”

I said, “OK, 8pm.”

Mum said, “No, no, no.”

I said, “So what time?”

Mum said, “7:30pm.”

I said, “OK, 7:30pm.”

Mum said, “No, no, no.”

I said, “So what time?”

Mum said, “7 pm.”

I said, “OK, 7 pm.”

Mum said, “No, no, no.”

I said, “So what time do you want?”

Mum said, “I want a time that fits your sister’s schedule as well.”

I said, “OK. Have you ever asked her when she can be back?”

Mum said, “No, I guess she’ll be some time between 7 and 8. Alright, you come back at 7 pm.”

I said, “No.”

Mum said, “Didn’t you say 7 pm is fine for you? You can accommodate her with your time?”

I said, “7 pm is fine, 7:30 pm is fine, 8:00 pm is fine, any other time is fine, accommodating my sister is also fine but blindly waiting without asking her when she returns is not. I want a dinner with my family but I don’t waste my time. Let me check it out with my sister.”

Mum said, “Let me ask.”

I said, “OK. Just tell me the time once decided.”

Dad called.

Dad said, “Come back at 7:30 pm tomorrow.”

I said, “OK.”

……

Another me said, “Do you love your family?”

I said, “Yes, I do.”

Another me said, “Kidding. If you do, why would you have been so reluctant to spare time for your family?”

I said, “Reluctant? I open up the whole day for their choice. 7 pm is fine, 7:30 pm is fine, 8:00 pm is fine, any other time is fine, only blindly waiting isn’t. Clear.”

Another me said, “Do you have to be that clear?”

I said, “The Lord is crystal clear.”

Another me said, “He loves us so much. He’s accepting. He’s far less picky than you are.”

I said, “Hey, accepting doesn’t mean being casual and sloppy. Which is ok or not, the Lord has them well written down in the Bible, much clearer than I do.”

Another me said, “Really? How come I don’t know?”

I said, “No surprise at all. You neither pray nor read the Bible. Your first-hand faith is empty.”

Another me said, “I attend Bible studies and listen to sermons. I do have some second-hand input.”

I said, “Of any use? Those that you favor, you take. Those that you don’t, you leave. Even if you take any, it’s still useless.”

Another me said, “Why?”

I said, “Because you never put His words into action. Should this be called faith? You simply regard it as killing time on YouTube.”

Another me said, “I just don’t want any argument with you in the the Chinese New Year. By the way, what does His Love look like?”

I said, “He says, If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Another me said, “Certain? Not necessarily, it also depends my performance in a range of our factors, in my opinion.”

I said, “His love-filled salvation is all about faith. No equivocation, No ambiguity, Nothing else.”
