I returned home.

Mum said, “Hey, you’ve got a post.”

I said, “I’ve got a post?”

Mum said, “Yes. This morning I went to the market to a pineapple. When I was back, the tall superintendent handed it to me.”

I said, “He handed it to you?”

Mum said, “Yes, he said a postman delivered it here and entrusted him in doing so.”

I said, “Why did the postman have to entrust him?”

Mum said, “He said, according to the postman, the letter cannot be dropped in our mailbox because it cannot be folded.”

I said, “Where is the post?”

Mum said, “In your room.”

……

I opened the door to my room, saw a sealed envelope and tore it open.

Another me said, “What is inside?”

I said, “A certificate.”

Another me said, “What certificate?”

I said, “On it writes Associate of Trinity College London - Level 4 Diploma in Music Theory.”

Another me said, “Your feeling now?”

I said, “Very excited.”

I uploaded the certificate onto the WhatsApp Group.

I said, “Good morning, everyone. Last midnight when I was back home, I was excited to find the exam certificate on which writes Associate of Trinity College London - Level 4 Diploma in Music Theory. This morning, I still feel the same to see it and I’d like to share with you my excitement.”

Mum said, “What is the post about?”

I took out my mobile and shows her a photo.”

I said, “Take a look.”

Mum said, “I can’t read English.”

I said, “Have a read first! You said you were a primary school graduate. You should be able to understand a few words there.”

Mum carefully read it.

Mum said, “London, UK’s Johnson.”

I said, “Yeah, but who cares about UK’s Johnson?”

Mum said, “Music, that’s what you are always busy with, right?”

I said, “Yes.”

Mum said, “That’s all I know. What is it all about?”

I said, “Associate of Trinity College London - Level 4 Diploma in Music Theory”

Mum said, “Why? A music exam in UK?”

I said, “Yes.”

Mum said, “How many attempts have you made?”

I said, “One.”

Mum said, “You get a pass in your first attempt.”

I said, “Exactly.”

Mum said, “It wasn’t long ago when you weren’t able to play even a song.”

I said, “It’s already 2 years ago. By the way, it’s a music theory exam certificate not a performance one.”

Mum said, “Still a shock to me. You’ve got no music talent and I’ve got none either. And you did not start learning music until you were at such an age. Now, not only did you secure a pass but in your first attempt! Isn’t it too hard to believe?”

I said, “Nope. The certificate is the evidence.

Mum said, “Wow, 2 years. What happened?”

I said, “You’ve forgotten what happened around 2 years ago? You’re one of my witnesses!”

Mum said, “What happened 2 years ago?”

I said, “To be accurate, 1 year and 9 months ago, that is October 2020, I disregarded your strong objection, followed my Lord and started learning music in Hong Kong International Institute of Music. This certificate is one of the many fruits along my music journey with the Lord.”
