“Is it all about our will that we can work together❓”

It is more His plan and my seeking.

Composition Tutorial

Teacher said, “This is the last lesson of this semester.”

I said, “Yes.”

Teacher said, “See you next semester after this lesson.”

I said, “Hold on.”

Teacher said, “What’s up?”

I said, “Shall we go on with the lessons?”

Teacher said, “But the academy has specified the number of contact hours.”

I said, “Can I overdraft the lesson time in the second semester?”

Teacher said, “Unless you’ve got a special reason and our schedules can match.”

I said, “I’ve got a special reason.”

Teacher said, “What special reason?”

I said, “I’m selected to compose for Master Lam’s concert.”

Teacher said, “When to submit score?”

I said, “The rehearsals start in early April. So I’ve got to submit the score in March, leaving enough time to invite instrumentalists and do auditions.”

Teacher said, “So you’d start composing now.”

I said, “Yes, but I can’t complete it all on my own.”

Teacher said, “Get it. So your time?”

I said, “It’s winter term, no regular classes. I’ll keep composing. Are you available?”

Teacher said, “Um…”

I said, “You’ve got overseas performances?”

Teacher said, “Um……The timing’s just.”

I said, “The time’s just clashed with your performances?”

Teacher said, “The timing is just perfect. My performances start in May next year. By the time, I’ll be leaving Hong Kong. Actually, I’m thinking of asking if our tutorial can go on so that I don’t need to do make-up classes by then.”

I said, “Let’s carry on.”

Teacher said, “23/02 (Tue) 09:00, OK?”

I said, “Yeah, no problem. See you then.”
……

Another me said, “How could you have not asked about the availabilities of your major study teacher before you enrolled yourself as a composer into Master Lam’s concert?”

I said, “But the availability of my major study teacher isn’t the application requirement.”

Another me said, “But it doesn’t mean you can make such a blunt decision.”

I said, “Master Lam!”

Another me said, “So what?”

I said, “It’s an once-in-a-lifetime chance to compose for Master Lam’s concert. What else should I wait for? Nothing but to make application. Make hay while the Sun shines.”

Another me said, “You’re just lucky to be selected to compose for Master Lam’s concert, even as a year 1 undergraduate. Even luckier is that your teacher is staying with you, letting go of his semester break. It’s all about your will and your teacher’s.”

I said, “It isn’t al about my will and my teacher’s.”

Another me said, “About what else?”

I said, “About me as well! If I hadn’t asked, how could I have known my teacher is available?”

Another me said, “Your teacher said he was going to ask you about it anyway.”

I said, “But the fact is, only when I asked him did I got his availability. But frankly, it is far more than my seeking.”

Another me said, “What’s more? The Lord?”

I said, “You’re getting smarter! But for the Lord, would I, a novice composition student, have been selected to compose for Master Lam’s concert?”

Another me said, “No.”

I said, “But for the Lord, would my teacher’s performance have been arranged to May next year?”

Another me said, “No, either.”

I said, “You’re getting much smarter!”

Another me said, “So nothing can go without the Lord.”

I said, “Ah, you’re getting smarter and smarter!”
