One of my classmates in the aural and sight-singing class texted me.

Classmate said, “I get to take a leave next Wednesday. I can’t come back for the aural and sight-singing class.”

I said, “Ok.”

Classmate said, “Could you make recording of the lesson with your mobile phone and send it to me after class?”

I said, “There is already a recording on zoom.”

Classmate said, “Yes, but only the sounds around the computer can be recorded. I can hear only the teacher talking, but not you guys singing.”

I said, “Then, you get to ask the teacher if he agrees to my recording.”

Classmate said, “I did already. He said ok.”

I said, “So efficient. OK then.”

Classmate said, “I’ve got a gift for you.”

I said, “Me?”

Classmate took out a sheet of Park’n shop coupon.

Classmate said, “Thank you for making the recordings for me!”

I said, “Thank you for your Park’n shop coupon, too.”

Another me said, “Why did you take the gift?”

I said, “Why couldn’t I take the gift?”

Another me said, “You offered help and took a gift. If others happen to know it, how would they think of you?”

I said, “I keeps it. My classmate keeps it. Who knows it? If I hadn’t told you just now, you wouldn’t have known it either.”

Another me said, “If others knew it, they’d consider that you offer help only for a gift.”

I said, “There’s something wrong with what you said.”

Another me said, “You’ve really received a Park’n shop coupon! There’s nothing wrong with what I said, isn’t there?”

I said, “No doubt there is something wrong. The last few times that I agreed to make recording one time after another, I was never told I’d be given a Park’n shop coupon.”

Another me said, “So are you telling me that you offered help to make recording with a motive other than a Park’n shop coupon?”

I said, “It isn’t that complicated. My motive is simply the Lord.”

Another me said, “Oh, the Lord is enough. Why did you still receive the Park’n shop coupon from your classmate?”

I said, “I find nothing wrong in gladly receiving a gift that my classmate gratefully presented, or perhaps…”

Another me said, “Or perhaps what?”

I said, “Or perhaps the Lord is giving me a reward. Then, I take it.”

Another me said, “All you have in your mind is thanksgiving and rewards from your neighbours and the Lord. What if the people around accuse you as a greedy Christian. By the time, I’ll see how you’ll lose face and whether you still dare to share your reflections here in the website. People’s rumours are scaring!”

I said, “You’ve got so much scare. If you’re that worried about losing face, don’t get the Park’n shop coupon. But if you don’t, don’t blame the Lord afterwards.”

Another me said, “For what will I blame the Lord?”

I said, “For not well treating you. Apparently the Lord is now treating you very well out of His grace. But it is you yourself that now rejects His graceful offer out of your own scare.”
