“A good chance that God grants, why can’t we take❓”

Maybe because we are not willing.

I said, “I’ve got something to discuss with you.”

Mum said, “What’s that?”

I said, “I wonder if we can adopt a cat.”

Mum said, “What cat?”

I unlocked my phone and showed her the photos of the two cats.”

I said, “See.”

Mum said, “I can’t take this. She looks too fierce.”

I said, “How about this old one? He doesn’t look fierce at all.”

Mum said, “Whose cat?”

I said, “The pastor’s. He’s going to work somewhere oversea. He’s looking for someone to take his cat because it costs too much to take them along.”

Mum said, “No.”

I said, “Why not?”

Mum said, “We’ve got Pei Pei and Tung Tung already.”

I said, “So we’re got pet-caring experience.”

Mum said, “Our flat isn’t large enough to...”

I said, “As large as 400 square feet. Some can live even in a subdivided one as small as 100 square feet.

Mum said, “How about their meal? We get to spoon-feed them, don’t we?”

I said, “No, we don’t. Just leave the pet food in their bowls. They’ll eat it when hungry. It’a dad and you that make yourselves such troubles.”

Mum said, “How about the poo?”

I said, “Pei Pei does it in the toilet herself and Tung Tung does it in the sandbox himself.”

Mum said, “But those left behind has to be cleared, doesn’t it?”

I said, “Just 3 times a day and no more than 2 minutes each time.”

Mum said, “How about cleaning?”

I said, “Wiping their bodies and faces, it is you. But bathing, vacuuming, teeth-brushing, floor -sweeping, medicine-feeding, it is me.”

Mum said, “How about illness?”

I said, “See the doctor. Most of the times I myself take them to the doctor, pay for the medical charge and even buy them an insurance.”

Mum said, “They get bored if staying at home too long.”

I said, “Not they, Pei Pei. Cats don’t go out.”

Mum said, “No, we’re just unable”

I said, “Not unable but unwilling!”

Mum said, “Not unwilling but unable!”

I said, “We’ve got the ability needed. We are just able.”

Mum said, “To keep a pet, it’s not a game, but a responsibility!

I said, “Responsibility? I not only tell you how I’ll take, but also show you how I’ve taken.”

Mum said, “Anyway, with Pei Pei and Tung Tung, to take one more, I’m no longer able.”

I said, “Fine if you don’t want to be able.”

......

Another me said, “Let’s ask God for help.”

I said, “Help granted.”

Another me said, “Where?”

I said, “He’s blessed us 2 mild-tempered pets to learn pet care, a job for me to earn money, and a flat as large as 400 square feet to accommodate.”

Another me said, “So why can’t you even adopt an old cat?”

I said, “Unwilling.”
