“Of your promises, how much will you fulfil❓”

Until completion, because the Lord has first completed His promise.

I got dressed in my suits and about to leave.

Mum said, “Leaving for work?”

I said, “Of course. I won’t put on a suit if not working.”

Mum said, “What time?”

I said, “9:30 a.m. What’s up?”

Mum said, “A few words?”

I said, “Sure.”

Mum said, “Give me one thousand.”

I said, “Why? I’ve just transferred to your bank account the monthly home expenses and dad’s acupuncture charge.”

Mum said, “There’s one thousand outstanding in the acupuncture charge.”

I said, “I’ve transferred to you $10,400. Update your passbook.”

Mum said, “No, the total should be $11,400 instead.”

I said, “but you said it was $10,400, didn’t you?”

Mum said, “No, here is the right amount. I’ve got the receipts.”

Mum showed me the receipts.

I said, “Yes.”

Mum said, “You said if dad went for the acupuncture, you’d cover the entire amount of medical expenses. So are you going to settle the $1,000 here?”

I fell into a moment of silence and took a look at mum.

I said, “Yes, I am.”

Mum said, “So transfer me the amount some time later.”

I returned my room for two sheet of $500.

I said, “Here is a thousand.”

Mum said, “Why did you rush?”

I said, “This is my promise. Immediately fulfil it and settle the pay. Isn’t it good?”

Mum said, “Excellent.”

……

Another me said, “You’d turned rich?”

I said, “If I had, I won’t be working all day to settle the rent, home expenses and school fee.”

Another me said, “How come you’ve made such a fast pay? Pauper in disguise?”

I said, “After all, I’m a college lecturer. I couldn’t even pay $1,000. Who would believe it?”

Another me said, “But it doesn’t mean that you need to pay it, does it? Is your dad a stranger to your mum and sister? They should have a share.”

I said, “But this time, it is not they but I myself that said who would settle the entire amount.”

Another me said, “You did say that, but……”

I said, “But the Lord tells me He wants me fulfil my promises - pay the entire amount of the bill.”

Another me said, “Through whom did the Lord pass you this message? Moses?”

I said, “He’s much greater than Moses!”

Another me said, “Stop it! Who do you think you are? You consider being a college lecturer someone exceptional? I can pick several of someone like you the moment I walk into the street. How dare you said you’re informed by someone much greater than Moses? OK, show me who he is?”

I said, “The Lord Himself. He said in the Bible that He promises to have saved us and deliver us from all of our sins only when I receive Him as my personal Lord and saviour. Has he ever left any of our sin unpaid?”

Another me said, “Has He?”

I said, “No, my Lord Jesus had descended to the world, went on the cross and sacrificed Himself for us. I suspect you’re the one that has left promises unfulfilled.”

Another me said, “How would I? I pronounced my faith in 2009, declared my promise to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and saviour and follow Him in every second of the daily walk of my life. I even got baptised in February 2012. I can show you my baptism certificate with me. Do you want to have a look?”

I said, “Alright. The responsibilities that Jesus, the Lord that you promise you follow, today assign you, have you tried your utmost to fulfil all of them?”

Another me said, “……”
