“When does the Lord make all things work together❓”
Across time.

I got an invitation from the academic coordinator to a violin meeting. After several rounds of practice,
Coordinator said, “Pause and come over.”
Classmates stopped their practices and came over.
Coordinator said, “Wai Hung, say something.”
I said, “Hi, everybody. I’m Wai Hung. I’m year 1 student in HKIIM, majoring in Composition. I’m coming to meet all of you. I’m now working on my composition. I’d like to ask if any of you are interested and able to help me as an instrumentalist of my composition recital in the second next academic year.”
Classmates nodded.
I asked all the classmates for their name, the instruments they play and the level of their instrumental exam.”
I said, “OK. Thank you very much.”
Classmates returned their practices.
I returned to my computer on the seat and continued to work on the score.
A while later, classmate Charmaine came over and sat down.”
Charmaine said, “When is your composition recital?”
I said, “November next year.”
Charmaine said, “Have you started writing?”
I said, “Yes, the first piece is completed.”
Charmaine said, “What is it?”
I said, “Woodwind Quintet.”
Charmaine said, “Can you show me?”
I opened Sebelius and showed her the score.
I said, “Here it is.”
Charmaine said, “There’s a piano part.”
I said, “Yes, the piano plays the rhythm and harmonies.”
Charmaine said, “Have you got any instrumentalist?”
I said, “Not yet. I’ve got my first piece ready.”
Charmaine said, “Who are you going to invite?”
I said, “Flute, Gavin.”
Charmaine said, “Any others?”
I said, “Oboe, Niki.”
Charmaine said, “Any others?”
I said, “Saxophone, Docras.”
Charmaine said, “Any others?”
I said, “Piano.”
Charmaine said, “Who are you going to invite?”
I said, “I have no idea yet.”
Charmaine said, “Let me do the piano.”
I said, “Great. But the rhythms in the piano part are quite complicated.”
Charmaine said, “OK.”
I said, “Actually, I need one more pianist.”
Charmaine said, “Cathy.”
I said, “Good idea.”
Charmaine said, “Frankly, Gavin, Niki, Cathy and I are of the same group. We often have ensemble practice together.”
I said, “What a coincidence? So all your group members are playing the Woodwind trio for me?”
Charmaine said, “Exactly.”
……
Another me said, “What a coincidence?”
I said, “Coincidence?”
Another me said, “Yes, coincidence.”
I said, “4 out of 5 classmates that will play my composition for me come from the same group. Isn’t it still a coincidence?”
Another me said, “These are coincidences.”
I said, “So many coincidences? How to arrange? Show me.”
Another me said, “Hold on. Where was the group formed?”
I said, “It’s not until I talked to Charmaine that I knew the group. It should have been formed before I enrolled in the composition recital.”
Another me said, “By the time, you haven’t enrolled in the recital and composed anything yet. It’s across time. How can I arrange?”
I said, “To make arrangement across time. You aren’t able but the Lord is.”
