“When does the Lord start caring about you❓”

When I was still muddle-headed.

I returned to my room.

Another me said, “So messy is your desk. Tidy it up.”

I said, “OK.”

I switched on my computer and opened the LMusTCL Past Paper, about to fine-tube the String Quartet that I wrote.

I turned over the past paper.

I said, “Ah!”

Another me said, “What is your Ah about?”

I said, “Test question 2b covers Orchestration.”

Another me said, “So what? You’ve decided on String Quartet and Theme & Variations. You want a change, don’t you?”

I said, “No, I don’t.”

Another me said, “If not, what is your Ah about?”

I opened the guidelines to the entrance examination of the Bachelor of Composition and Electronic Music of Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA).

I said, “Ah!”

Another me said, “what is your Ah all about?”

I said, “2nd Audition covers orchestration.”

Another me said, “You want to prepare the 2nd audition with the test paper? Does it work?”

I said, “Let me leave my teacher a voice message in WhatsApp now”

Another me said, “Tomorrow. Do you know what time it is now?”

I photographed the test paper and examination guidelines and sent them to my composition teacher.

I said, “APA covers orchestration. But I’ve made no preparation yet.”

Teacher said, “Um……”

I said, “I wonder if it works to prepare for the 2nd audition with LMusTCL test question 2b.

Teacher said, “Yes, it does. Let’s discuss it next lesson.”

I said, “Great, thank you very much.”

Another me said, “Do you know what time it is?”

I said, “A few minutes past 12 a.m.”

Another me said, “It’s already past 12 a.m. How could you disturb your teacher at a time so late?”

I said, “I didn’t call him up. I’d left him no more than a voice message.”

Another me said, “Why didn’t he sleep so late?”

I said, “Ask him.”

Another me said, “He didn’t have to answer you even though he was awake, right?”

I said, “Yes, he cares and so he did.”

Another me said, “You’ve been working on the past paper for a month and a half. Why was it not until neither sooner nor later, but tonight, that you managed to notice that test question 2b is an orchestration exercise that is suitable for the preparation for the 2nd audition of the HKAPA?”

I said, “I’ve been in a muddle in the past month and a half so He gave me a reminder tonight.”

Another me said, “So late was the Lord still awake?”

I said, “Yes, He doesn’t sleep.”

Another me said, “You’ve left Him a voice message?”

I said, “I was in a muddle. What do you expect me to tell Him?”

Another me said, “It’s your own problem that you’re muddle-headed.”

I said, “I agree. It is I myself that want to apply for HKAPA. It’s up to me to look for orchestration exercises.

Another me said, “It’s already as late as some time after 12:00. But the Lord doesn’t sleep. He kept waiting for such a   muddle-headed one as you that have even no idea what to tell Him until He grasped the chance to remind you that the question 2b covers orchestration when you’re leisurely rolling down the LMusTCL past paper. He even had your composition teacher ready to confirm that it’s a suitable exercise for the 2nd audition of HKAPA. Why?”

I said, “He cares about me.”

Another me said, “Why does He care only about you, but not me?”

I said, “Impossible. No doubt He cares about you.”

Another me said, “No doubt He cares about me? Where? He certainly does. How on earth have I never noticed that?”

I said, “There is no surprise you’ve never noticed that, is there? You’re muddle-headed.
