“In asking, how to be humble❓”

With not only our mouth, but also our actions.

I said, “Let’s have a look at today’s schedule.”

Another me said, “For what?”

I said, “Just do it.”

Another me said, “Done.

I said, “Read it aloud.”

Another me said, “10-12pm, HKU Space Meeting; 12-1 pm, Composition Project; 2-3pm, HKMU Contract Signing; 5:00-5:30pm HKMU Meeting; 7:30pm Home Dinner.”

I said, “You have 2 hours of free time between 5:30-7:30p.m.”

Another me said, “Yes, I do. So what?”

I said, “I want you to visit your classmate in her band room in preparation for the composition recital practice later and share with her the new plan that you thought of this morning. You’re now in Lai King. Her band room is in Lai Chi Kok. It is 2 stations away, just along your way home.

Another me said, “No, in such a rush, who bothers answering me?”

I said, “You classmate, heard it?”

Another me said, “Crazy. She is teaching piano.”

I said, “How do you know she is teaching piano between 6:00p.m. and 7:00p.m.? She told you that?”

Another me said, “She told me nothing.”

I said, “The Lord told you that?”

Another me said, “He told me nothing.”

I said, “OK then.”

Another me said, “Not ok. He hasn’t said ok.”

I said, “He hasn’t said not ok either.”

Another me said, “Let me ask Him again in prayers.”

I said, “He knows it even before you pray, let alone we have talked about it. He’s definitely heard it.”

Another me said, “But He’s said nothing after he heard us. So what should I do?”

I texted my classmate in WhatsApp.

I said, “I’ll be off at Lai King Campus of HKMU at 05:30pm. I’d then like to come over to have a look at your band room, alright?”

Classmate said, “What time will you arrive?”

I said, “Around 6pm.”

Classmate said, “It wasn’t ok before but it is now.”

I said, “Why?”

Classmate said, “I’d be teaching in the music centre. But it’s closed today for some reason. All the lessons are cancelled.”

I said, “What a coincidence.”

Classmate said, “Yes, I’m normally occupied at this time.”

I said, “Great. See you at 6pm.”

Classmate said, “See you at 6pm.”

……

Another me said, “How did you get the Lord’s will?”

I said, “How could I have got His will? He’d told me nothing.”

Another me said, “He’d told you nothing. Why didn’t you open your mouth and ask Him?”

I said, “I did open my mouth and asked Him. But then I heard no reply from Him.”

Another me said, “He didn’t say ok. But why did you then ask your classmate?”

I said, “He didn’t say not ok either, nor did the Bible. What’s wrong with my taking a little step forward, asking Him if it’s ok with action?”

Another me said, “It shouldn’t be done that way. You’re just wasting your energy your time and your efforts.”

I said, “If not, what should I do instead?”

Another me said, “He makes no move and I won’t make any move.”

I said, “What are you doing here if you make no move?”

Another me said, “Keep praying until He makes a move.”

I said, “Why don’t you take a little step forward?”

Another me said, “If I’ve taken a step forward and am met with His ‘no’, then I’ll end up in a loss, right? If I keep asking until He says ok and make no move until He has done His job, then I can make sure that I won’t end up having my efforts in vain.”

I said, “Alright, I get it. Nobody but you are the Lord.

Another me said, “No, I am not but Jesus is the Lord. How dared I offend Him?”

I said, “Why didn’t you dare to? I’ve just witnessed how you ignored the Almighty and offended Him!”

Another me said, “No, I didn’t.”

I said, “How dared you claim you didn’t? It sound nice to disguise what you said as prayers. In fact, you are giving Him a command. You avoid any extra effort by make no move in seeking His will. You even make no move until He’s given you a response you’re expecting and done the job you’ve assigned. And still you say that you aren’t the Lord? But you act like the Lord.”
