“Are those that work hard Jesus’s disciples❓”

Anyone of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be His disciples.

Student said, “Having been learning English from for years, I wonder why I get so little improvement in my listening and speaking.”

I said, “Normal. After we’d started phonics for a while, you decided to stop it and do writing instead.”

Student said, “But I’ve been practising on my own.”

I said, “How to practise?”

Student said, “I listen to English news at home but I can find no difference in my listening and speaking ability at all.”

I said, “Normal. You don’t know phonics and listen to the news right away. Frankly, you know nothing about the relationship between the sounds and the alphabets.”

Student said, “There’s at least a little improvement if I keep practising, right?”

I said, “You’re just reciting some unknown sounds. Not until the news had ended did you already forget the sounds you’d just heard.

Student said, “......”

I said, “Every student that asks me for a way to improve their listening and speaking, I would recommend they must start with phonics.”

Student said, “Listening and speaking, I’ve been learning hard.”

I said, “You’re learning hard in your own way.”

Student said, “There should somehow be a little improvement as long as I work hard, right?”

I said, “Ask yourself. Listening and speaking, you aren’t learning from me but yourself.”

......

Another me said, “Having followed Jesus for years, I wonder why I’ve experienced no transformation in my life at all. I am just who I used to be.”

I said, “Why?”

Another me said, “I don’t know. I’ve been closely following Him.”

I said, “How to follow?”

Another me said, “Worshipping, Offerings, Gathering, Caring...I’ve done all of them.”

I said, “God says we shall have no other gods before me. If your mum and dad asked you to burn incense for and bow to the god of land, will you burn? Will you bow?”

Another me said, “I get to burn a little and bow for a while anyway. You know, mum and dad has raised me up since I was born.”

I said, “God says we shall tithe. If your wife suggests holding back some of your offerings and save it up for you. What will you do?”

Another me said, “Hand her part of the offering then. Let her save it up. She’s doing it for my own good anyway.”

I said, “God says let us not neglect our meeting together. If your son and daughter find the church gathering very boring, what will you do?”

Another me said, “They are my children. Of course I get to stay with them. Church brothers and sisters were not born by my mum anyway.”

I said, “God says we shall love our neighbours. If your brother and sisters at home blame you for your being meddlesome. What will you do?”

Another me said, “So many neighbours out there. Love them next time. We are brothers of the same family on earth anyway. Sibling Peace is worth a thousand.”

I said, “Who are you following?”

Another me said, “Jesus. I’ve been closely following Him.”

I said, “You’ve been closely following your dad, your mum, your wife, your son, your daughters, your brothers, your sisters and yourself.”

Another me said, “Anyway, I’m trying hard in following. There should be a little transformation in my life, right?”

I said, “Ask yourself. You are not following Jesus so far.”
