Composition Tutorial

Teacher said, “When will you start the rehearsals with the instrumentalists?”

I said, “Next Wednesday.”

Teacher said, “How many rehearsals altogether?”

I said, “5.”

Teacher said, “As many as 5. Wow, your instrumentalists are really nice. They are willing to have 5 rehearsal with you.”

I said, “Thanks.”

Teacher said, “How about the date, time and venue?”

I said, “1st rehearsal, 29/11 (Wed) 1400-1600 X719.”

Teacher said, “And then…”

I said, “2nd rehearsal, 07/12 (Thu) 1100-1300 A121

Teacher said, “And then…”

I said, “3rd rehearsal, 11/12 (Mon) 1130-1300 X719.”

Teacher said, “And then…”

I said, “4th rehearsal, 12/12 (Tue) 1400-1500 X719.”

Teacher said, “And then…”

I said, “5th Rehearsal, 13/12 (Wed) 1600-1800 A121.”

Teacher said, “So I’m coming for the 3rd rehearsal.”

I said, “You’re coming?”

Teacher said, “Yes.”

I said, “Are you really coming?”

Teacher said, “I said yes. Isn’t it a good idea?”

I said, “Yes, indeed. Why are you coming?”

Teacher said, “You’re a novice composer! It’s the first time to write Chinese music. There’s something you can’t manage.”

I said, “Why are you coming for the 3rd one?”

Teacher said, “I want you to make a few attempts. Then, I come and show you how to improve. You can observe me and adjust how you do it.”

Another me said, “APA requires teachers to supervise students’ rehearsals?”

I said, “No.”

Another me said, “You’ve given your teacher some benefits?”

I said, “6pm, Sep 15th, 2023, the department head introduced me to my teacher. Was it early enough?”
