Mum, sister, Thomas and I went for lunch in Urban Cafe. We bought some canned cat food there. When the ordor of the fish inside floats around, the cats jumped over to us. We enjoyed so much feeding them and interacting with them.

26/12/2019 (Thu) A pet store in Gold Fish Street in Prince Edward  14:00

When we were looking for a dog leash for our recently bought puppy, Pei Pei, I saw a kitten. He was an exotic shorthair. He wore black and white fur. He had everything on face so flat. He was very quiet and cute.”

I said, “Wow, the cat looks so cute.”

Staff said, “Let’s have a hug of him.”

I said, “Great.”

Staff handed me the cat.

I said, “He’s quiet.”

Staff said, “Yes, he’s particularly quiet, and frankly a little bit more scared.”

I said, “Exactly what I want. Cute and quiet.”

......

Having the cat on my arms, I turned to my mum.

I said, “I want to buy him home.”

Mum said, “Hey, you’ve bought Pei Pei home already. Now one more cat?”

I said, “Yes. This is my plan - a dog and a cat."

Mum said, “I’m now already fatigued at serving the poo and pee of Pei Pei.”

I said, “How come? Her poo and pee? Pour it into the toilet and flush it. Then wash her toilet bowl and wipe it with a towel. If it smells, apply the deodorant spray and wipe it again. Everything is done. It takes no more than a minute.”

Mum said, “How about food and drink?”

I said, “How hard can it be? Get 1/2 cup of dog food, pour some hot water and wait for 15 minutes. Then, crush a meat bar and mix them. Done. Twice a day only. So simple.”

Mum said, “See, the cat’s got so much hair. How hard the toil can be to sweep the floor.”

I said, “I’ll do it.”

Mum said, “You say it.”

I said, “I say it and I do it. I clear most poo and pee by Pei Pei, don’t I?”

Mum said, “Only you do it? I’ve done nothing, right?”

I said, “You’ve given some help. But I’ve never urged you for that. It’s you yourself that volunteered to help. Do you think it is right for me to turn down your love offers to Pei Pei?”

Mum said, “Our house is so small. We’ve got Pei Pei already. We’ve got no space for a cat.”

I said, “My room is already enough. Below my bed is a place for the dog and under the window is another for the cat.”

Mum said, “A cat and a dog, how can you handle?”

I said, “Well, Pei Pei wakes me up at midnight for toilet and has me get her back to sleep. Have I ever waken either you or dad up?”

Mum said, “You can do it because you’re on holidays. How can you do it when school starts?”

I said, “I have the confidence and ability. If I really fail, I can ask my friends and church brothers or sisters for help.”

Mum said, “Then you’re making trouble for others.”

I said, “Now the one that says I am making troubles is neither my friends nor my church brothers or sisters, but you. If the house can’t accommodate, I can still ask them to come over to help.”

Mum said, “Alas, you take my house as a doorless chicken coop?”

I said, “It has been a doorless chicken coop for a long time. It has been years that students are coming over to learn from me. Why haven’t I heard about such a comment from you so far?”

Mum said, “It costs so much to buy a cat.”

I said, “I am willing and able to cover all the expenses of my dog and my cat.”

Mum said, “You’re smart now. You can make money.”

I said, “That’s why I settle all the payment and take the responsibility.”

Mum said, “Anyway, I am opposed to that.”

I said, “I won’t buy anymore after I get this cat. A cat and a dog, that’s all.”

Mum said, “You say it.”

I said, “Yes, I say it and I’ll do it. Since I bought Pei Pei, which promises I made about the dog have I not kept? Tell me.”

Mum said, “Anyway. I won’t agree. This house is mine. If we still live together, we get to make accommodation for one another.”

I saw sister looking so embarrassed.

I said, “Fine. That’s all today. Let’s go.”

Mum and Thomas went back home for Pei Pei. Sister and I went to Mega Box to buy chairs.”

I said, “You don’t look you can stand how mum reacted to me.”

Sister said, “I can’t stand. It’s so embarrassing. But you look like nothing had ever happened.”

I said, “I don’t think it matters a lot. Alright, let’s think about the next step.”

Sister said, “I just can’t take it. I can’t think about the next step.”

...…

Another me said, “Why is mum still so scared about getting a pet even after you’ve bought Pei Pei?”

I said, “Because the scare is buried deep there in her. It hasn’t been uprooted.”

Another me said, “Why can’t sister take mum’s reaction out of scare but you can even think about the next step?”

I said, “Because I’ve had a desire to draw a clear boundary against her scare since long ago so I’ve been asking my Lord to teach me. And I act on His guidance and uproot the effects of her scare onto me.”
